I had the privilege of being Rachel’s and Nicole’s small group leader for the past four years. I can’t tell you how proud I am of them. They are both very hard-working students who take pride in their studies and dedicate themselves to being good examples of teenagers with good, moral character and expressing kindness. They are very confident about what they want to do and what they want to accomplish in life. Having the opportunity to lead them and guide them is an experience I won’t soon forget.
What I didn’t know is how long they’ve been friends. I’ve known them since middle school, but they’ve been friends since kindergarten! It’s unusual to find high school students who know and still consider themselves friends since elementary school. Typically, they get to high school, and they begin to get involved in various activities apart from each other and the friendship fads away. It’s not because anyone if angry or upset, it’s just life happens and takes it toll on a friendship. So, when I found out how long Rachel and Nicole had been friends, I was truly impressed.
They don’t compete with each other and they often compliment each other. I’m thankful that they’ve had this friendship and they’ve chosen to stay friends.
Two of my favorite pictures of them is of Rachel laying her down on Nicole’s shoulder and Nicole smiling. I did direct them to do that, but the way that Rachel so easily laid her head on Nicole’s shoulder showed me that this was a close friendship. The way Nicole is smiling tells me she is completely content with having Rachel as her friend. My second favorite one is of the two of them each other’s hands and they are both smiling from ear-to-ear. They just look so happy to be with each other! What a great relationship!
Having a chance to photograph them together and seeing them interact together as friends tells me the story of their close friendship in pictures that words couldn’t always express. Get your senior photos done and bring a friend for even more fun! Check out my senior investment page for details.
